Long-liner fishing company Pesquera Azul SA is registered in Uruguay and is owned by Norwegian company Pesquera Azul Norge AS. It was founded and is managed by a highly qualified team with decades of hands-on industrial experience from both Patagonian Toothfish and other types of fisheries.
In collaboration with the Uruguayan maritime authorities and through the deployment of cutting-edge, patented technology, we aim to significantly enhance working conditions and onboard safety of our crew, reduce fuel consumption, minimise whale depredation and eliminate bycatch.
We believe our purpose-built vessel FV Ocean Azul will set a new standard of quality and innovation for the international long-liner fleet as part of our missions to help reduce the environmental footprint of fisheries in the Antarctic region.
Arne is a Master Mariner with broad operational experience as captain and mate on purse seiners/pelagic trawlers under Norwegian fishing company Br Birkeland AS (since 1983).
He has extensive management competence as CEO of several seafood companies, and is currently CEO of Pesquera Azul Norge AS.
Arne brings board and ownership expertise from Br Birkeland AS and related industries such as salmon farming.
Omar has worked as Chief Adviser on the long-liner vessels Antarctic 1, 2, 3 and "Centurion del Atlantico", and is one of the pioneers of toothfish fisheries.
As Technical Manager of Pesquera Azul SA he is responsible for all technology systems onboard FV Ocean Azul.
Omar brings significant operational competence to the company and has also developed innovative fishing equipment solutions through his company Sago Solution AS.
Dagfinn is a Master Mariner with extensive operational experience as captain on several long-liner vessels working in the North Atlantic. Has been involved in Patagonian Toothfish fisheries in Antarctica since their establishment in 1993.
Dagfinn has also skippered purse seiners working in the North Atlantic and off the coast of South Africa.
As captain on FV Ocean Azul he will run our fishing operations both in Uruguayan and international waters.
